Defense Base Act Attorney Philip Weltin

Philip Weltin founded the law firm in 1972 and has been practicing as a trial attorney in California since January, 1970. Mr. Weltin specializes in maritime laws (including Jones Act and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) claims), products liability, employment disputes, insurance coverage/bad faith and personal injury claims. He is a well known trial attorney in the Bay Area, and has prevailed in many significant cases including wrongful death cases before a jury. He is AV-rated by his peers and was selected to Northern California Super Lawyers 2011 and 2012.

Mr. Weltin obtained his Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University in 1969, Bachelor of Science from San Jose State University, with honors, in 1964.

Mr. Weltin is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the American Association for Justice.

Mr. Weltin served in the USN Submarine Service on board the “Tang” SS-563.
